My side mission is to taste as many international variations as i possibly can of my favourite side dish – THE DUMPLING. I will try to rate them on a star-based scale. To help me being as objective as possible (not very much) I will start with my all-fav:
Mehlknödel (Flour Dumpling)

a regional special from Saarland, Germany. This is a very cheap / affordable dish that kept generations of children alive and happy, even during hard times. The twist to Mehlknödel how my mother used to cook them is the mix of hearty bacon (veggie variation: roast onions) and sweet cherries as a topping.
Although i would give it a 5 anytime, this shall be the benchmark for all the dumplings with room to improve.
